So things are progressing nicely with the planning of the Omaha DIY Fest.

You will start seeing some fliers up around town, we are continuing the weekly meetings (Mondays at 9pm at the Hoo Hallow 4120 Lafayette ave.), and we already have a dozen classes/skill shares set up for the week of the 5th through the 12th of September.

Some things coming up that you might be interested in are 1. the deadline for signing up to facilitate an event is next Monday the 22nd (please drop your forms off at the hoo hallow or contact us and we can come get them) 2. the schedule should be coming out shortly after we get all the forms in and 3. we will be announcing our musical project associated with the Fest in the coming days (check out this if you want an idea of what we are thinking about).
Drop us a line if you are interested in helping coordinate the logistics for the Fest or just want to know more, otherwise we will see you in September!

Omaha DIY Fest!

What – A do it yourself week of fun, knowledge, music, arts, and skills

Where – Omaha, specifically midtown

When – September 5th through the 11th

Who – anyone who wants to come and engage with others in positive empowering ways

Why – Pick a reason! Its not about all having the same philosophy but coming together to understand and appreciate one another.

So how is this actually going to work?

The first full week of September there will be a variety of workshops, skill shares and other random events put on by facilitators who want to lead them (ideas range from hunting classes to groups bike rides, house shows and anything else people come up with). A schedule will be published on the 22nd of August and people can start planning out which events they would like to be apart of. Some will require certain items to be brought and facilitators might request advanced sign-up but most of the events will just need you to come with an open mind.

Who is organizing this?

A collective group of friends and acquaintances. If you would like to join us we have meetings every Monday around 9pm at 4120 Lafayette Ave (The Hoo Hallow).

What is the goal?

Everyone organizing this probably has many different goals when it comes to why they are involved, and that’s ok! One common thread though, is to create an open inviting space for people to come together and relate with others in empowering ways.
